Foreword
Welcome to our WLK classic death knight upgrade guide! Death knights, we call him DK, are strengthened by blood and frost. They used to be the vanguard of the Lich King's army, and they are the first new profession added in various expansion packs of World of Warcraft. Death knights are a hero class, which means they start at a higher level, the initial level to build a death knight is level 55. Capable of tanking or DPSing in any of their 3 talent trees, they are a popular and very powerful class in WLK's various playstyles.
The upgrade speed of death knights is very fast, they have more survival, burst skills, and unparalleled sustainability. All three of their talent trees are great for leveling up, and each has their own unique abilities and strengths.
Blood DK It has incredible survivability and can independently challenge various elite tasks. A blood DK can usually single out N monsters of the same level. This talent tree is more suitable for tanks. Blood DK is fearless and very brave in the process of upgrading .
Unholy DK Has very high damage and debuff abilities, but when leveling up, they focus on damage over time and aren't very bursty yet.
Ice DK Will prioritize their bursts, doing a lot of damage early on, but lacking Vile and Blood's survivability and sustained damage.
No single choice is wrong, and each player may find themselves preferring a certain playstyle, so this guide will attempt to cover the three lines of talent for death knights, presenting helpful hints, where to spend your talent points, and Which stats to gravitate toward when choosing gear, effectively utilizing your abilities, and all sorts of advice DK can use to make the leveling process as smooth and easy as possible!
Advantage
- Start at level 55 instead of 1
- Excellent survivability and practicality
- Able to adapt to a variety of situations
- Able to complete most tasks alone
- Skill cycle is highly adaptable
Shortcoming
- Starting from level 55 may make it difficult for some players to adapt to the sudden arrival of various powerful abilities
- Death knights are very popular in the early days of WLK eve, which may lead to DK armies everywhere, making it more difficult to find a job.
- There are too many people and few pitfalls, it is difficult to guarantee the position of the group
Upgrade skills
As a death knight, you get free weapon enchants through Runeforging, ensuring you always get powerful enchants right away with new weapons, and the DK-specific enchants are all pretty powerful. Lower level death knights will have limited options and will generally want to use the Ember Glacier or Ice Front runes until they learn Fallen Crusader, which will be the main rune for all death knights.
Death knights have many abilities in many situations, but are particularly good at dealing with spellcasters. Use Mind Freeze, Strangler, and Death Grip liberally to avoid being hit by spells.
Your diseases do more damage than you can imagine, and can easily help you kill enemies quickly if you infect them with the plague and blow them up with a blood boil.
Don't be afraid to go into cooldown after using skills, you have a lot of skills with short cooldowns, so even if you use them a lot, you can get recovery in a short period of time, not using it is wasting.
The Horn of Winter is an important BUFF for death knights, please use it as a CD. It keeps a significant buff on you and gives you free runic power every time you cast it!
Death knights can use cloth, leather, mail, and plate armor. This is a key part of leveling up your death knight's survivability, and you'll often have to choose between higher damage leather gear and higher survivability mail or plate gear. It always ends up being a personal choice, and only you know how your upgrades feel, so only you can decide if you need more survivability, or if you feel you have enough survivability to trade off for more damage output. Death knights generally don't need to wear cloth armor, unless you need to take pictures or change into costumes when participating in events, because then you don't need to fight.
Attribute priority
- Strength - This will always be your favorite attribute. Each point of strength gives you 2 points of attack power.
- Strong attack – Increases the damage of most of your abilities.
- Crit – Increases the chance to deal double damage.
- Rapidly – Increases the speed of all attacks, allowing you to deal more damage faster!
- Hit – Increases the hit rate of your attacks. It's a great extra stat, but when leveling up, you'll rarely find enough of it to make it desirable.
- Agile – Slightly increases your critical strike chance and dodge chance.
- Endurance – Increase your max health! This is a stat that tanks care about more, so it's usually not something you aim for during leveling, but something that comes naturally.
Skill cycle
The skill rotation differences between the three death knight talents are surprisingly small, using many of the same fillers and area-of-effect spells while swapping their primary spenders. Blood DK uses Heart Strike, Ice DK uses Oblivion, and Unholy DK uses Scourge Strike.
No matter what talents you have, your main goal is to keep your Plague, Frost Fever, and Blood Plague on all targets by using Shadow Strike, Icy Touch, and Contagion.
Death knights can use three kinds of aura, blood aura, unholy aura and frost aura.
Blood Aura increases damage you deal by 15% and heals you for 4% of direct damage you deal. This should be the main aura you use when leveling up, providing the most damage as well as a constant source of self-regeneration to get you going longer.
Unholy Aura increases your movement and attack speed by 15% and reduces your global cooldown by 0.5 seconds. While this sounds great, attack speed does less damage than blood aura, and your damage is limited by runes and runic power much more than the public cooldown.
Frost Aura increases your Stamina by 8%, reduces the damage you take by 8%, and increases the amount of armor granted by gear by 60%. This is your main tank stance, unless you are a tank, it is not recommended to use this aura at other times.

WLK death knight DK special macro
Although DK is not very difficult in the leveling process, the proficient use of various macros can not only provide effective help during leveling, but also play a very important role in team battles after the full level in the future. Here are some tips for leveling. More practical macros are basically enough for leveling with these DKs.
DK leveling one-key macro (single target)
This macro has been brainlessly pressed to make leveling easier, and the skill cycle can be adjusted by modifying the skill.
#showtooltip cold touch
/castsequence reset=6/target/combat
(Cold Touch, Shadow Strike, Heart Strike, Heart Strike, Death Strike, Death Coil, Death Strike, Heart Strike, Heart Strike, Death Coil)
DK leveling one-key macro (multi-target)
The DK multi-target one-key macro has added infection and blood boiling, which is suitable for multi-target A monsters.
#showtooltip blood boiling
/castsequence reset=6/target/combat
(Cold Touch, Shadow Strike, Contagion, Blood Boil, Death Strike, Death Coil, Death Strike, Blood Boil, Blood Boil, Death Coil)
Larmon
Integrate infection and blood boiling skills, it is strange to press continuously when there is a disease, it will be infection and blood boiling.
/castsequence reset=9 infection, blood boil
Spirit Strike Macro
When the target is switched and the skill cannot be released due to skill CD or lack of energy, etc., it will give priority to automatic attack
#showtooltip Spirit Strike
/startattack
/cast Spirit Strike
